Petra (in Arabic  Al-Batrāʾand in Latin Petra, Petra means The rock in Greek, it is a historical and archaeological city in the southern Jordanian governorate of Ma'an that is famous for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system. Petra is also about three hours south of Amman.
Petra was the Nabataean capital, located between the Red Sea and the Dead Sea, and it is surrounded by mountains riddled with passages and gorges. It is one of the world's most famous archaeological sites, where ancient Eastern traditions blend with Hellenistic architecture.
Petra was established  about  312 BCE as the capital city of the Nabataeans .
Petra unique site remained unknown to the western world until 1812, when it was rediscovered by the Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt .
Petra is also known as the Rose City due to the color of the stone out of which it is carved,.
To start a tour to visit Petra you will enter from one of 2 ways, but the Siq  is the ancient main entrance leading tourists to  Petra city, starts at the Dam and ends at the opposite side of the vault, the siq is a narrow gorge, over 1km in length, which is flanked on either side by soaring, 80m high cliffs. Just walking through the Siq is an experience in itself. The colours and formations of the rocks are dazzling, a split rock with a length of about 1200 meters and a width of three to twelve meters, and height up to about 80meters; most of the Siq rock is natural and another part was sculptured by the Nabataeans, The Siq which is the main road to enter to Petra starts from the Dam and ends at the Treasury.
which is perfectly positioned opposite the main route into Petra, the Treasury (al-Khazneh in Arabic), it is not clear what was the treasury , may be it was a temple, while the Arab tribes were thinking it was an ancient tomb for ancient Pharoah from Egypt , and that big treasure was hidden inside it, that is why it was called the Treasury.
During a tour in Petra you will see temples, tombs, and other buildings are all carved out of the sandstone cliffs, wich also gives it the name the "rose red city"

We proceed in downtown, the oldest part of Amman to Al Husseini Mosque, built on remains of a mosque in 640 AD by caliph Umar bin Al Khattab. You have time to stroll visa the Souq before we continue

 to the tomb of the venerable companion Abdul Rahman bin Awf Al Zuhri, one of the 'Blessed Ten'. Then transfer to your hotel to check-in. We end the day at Kahf Al Raqim, the Cave of the Seven Sleepers, with a nosque fitting the description of the Holy Quran. Return to Amman for overnight at hotel.

Early morning enjoy your breakfast, then drive southwards to Kerak, visit there the famous castle, and go on to the site of the Battle of Mutah which occured in 629 AD. in this site you will visit the tombs of  the venerable companion Zaid Ibn Haritha, who was the army leader during Mutah battle, the tomb of Jahfar Ibn Abu Talib and Abd Allah Ibn Ruwahah. Back to your hotel in Amman.

Day 9:   Allenby Bridge – Jerusalem Tour – Jerusalem Hotel 

At 7:00 am pick up from your Amman hotel to head for the Allenby Bridge/King Hussein Border to leave Jordan. Your tour guide welcomes you outside the border terminal, then drive via the Judean desert to the Holy City Jerusalem. We start with a panoramic view from the Mount of Olives, and walk down to the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations. In the old city we view the Wailing Wall, which represents the last remnants of the Jewish Temple, destroyed by the Romans. If open to visitors, we ascend to the Temple Mount to look at the famous Dome of the Rock. Then we continue to the Via Dolorosa, which leads us to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where Jesus Christ was crucified and buried. Overnight in Jerusalem.
