Initially standing at 147 meters, now it is only 136 meters , as Throughout history many travellers and people were trying to remove the smooth casing which was made of high quality of limestone, as they were trying to find the gates to enter the pyramids and find the treasures, Herodotus said that it was a small pyramid made of gold and silver on the top of the great pyramid of Giza, now it was stolen, that is why the pyramid is only 136 meters and not 147 as ancient times, Thieves were able to enter the Great pyramids of Giza, that is why now the pyramid is empty as everything was stolen, Cheops Great pyramid was the tallest man-made building in all the world for more than 3,800 yrs.
It is estimated to weight 60 tons, it was used about 2,300000 blocks of limestone to build it, weighting from half ton till 70 tons.
Most archeologist think that these blocks used to erect the great pyramid of Giza were brought from East bank from Turrah quarries, but as all pyramids have to be erected on west bank (symbol of resurrection) for ancient Egyptian, so the Egyptian were waiting for the flood then transfer these huge stones from the east bank to the west bank, and that is why they were working to build pyramids only during summer.
The Great pyramid base is about 230 square, It has 2 entrances, The upper is the original, the lower was made by thieves who stole the treasures, and it is the one that is used now to enter the pyramid.
Note that entry inside the great pyramid of Giza, or any other pyramid in Giza area (Chephren or Menkaure) is included, please inform your guide in case you want to go inside or you want to cancel it, in case of cancelling entering inside pyramids take your money back

Among these pyramids there is a plenty of mastabas which were erected to be the last house for the nobles and high class families, these mastabas are rectangular buildings and all their walls are full with scenes representing the daily life of ancient Egyptian.
Saqqara pyramids tickets is 180 pounds per person including see the step pyramid, the Heb Sed building, entry inside Kagemni mastaba and Unas pyramid and Teti pyramid.
But other places needs extra ticket as mastaba of Mereruca or the Serapium
