Start the tour to scout Abu Simbel temples,

for around 3000 years both temples were hidden under the desert sand , Later they were discovered in 1813, and explored in 1817 by the Italian explorer Battista Giovanni, But unfortunately in 1960, when president Nasser decided to build the High dam in Aswan, the 2  temples were threaten by the Rising water of the River Nile behind the high dam, but by the help of Egyptian government and UNESCO, the both temples were moved on upper level to avoid the rising water of the Nile.it was a really recondite work, because the 2 temples in Abu Simbel were not built by stones, but were cut inside 2 mountains in the village, this means that to save the 2 temples, the workers had to cut the mountain in pieces, giving each piece a number, then building it again on an upper level using the original old stones with the numbers given to them, It was looking like puzzle games but in very big size and with very heavy stones, Ramses II built the temple mostly to honor himself, not to honor the gods & may be that is why he choose a far area to build the temple, so it is so far also for the priests inside Abu Simbel temple there is a mural depicting his famous victory at Qadesh battle where his army defeated his enemies.

On the north of Ramses temple, the Nefertrai Temple which was built by Ramses II to his favorite wife queen Nefertai among other 42 wives, Ramses II has about 160 sons, we dont know how many daughters.

Aswan High Dam Tour

For many centuries, Egyptian people were suffering from either water too much or too little water, Some years there would

be drought, and there was not enough water to grow the crops or to use for their daily life. Other years there

was so much water that the great Nile River would flood, destroying the crops and anything in front of his way. so the Egyptian

needed to find a way to manage the water from the Nile River so that they had just the right amount all the time. The answer to

these problems was the high dam in Aswan which is is one of the largest embankment dams in the world

Aswan High Dam is an engineering miracle constructed the ten years between 1960 and 1970. It aimed to

increase Egypt national economic production by further regulating the annual river Nile flooding and providing storage of water for

agriculture, & later, to generate hydroelectricity.

The dam has had a significant impact on the economy and culture of Egypt.but in the same time it was not positive for the mud

which was rich of all natural elements for the land & it was carried to cover Egypt land with the flood, now no mud come, it was

created a big lake behind the dam ( Nasser lake ) that covered the Nubian lands & temples.

The Egyptian government with the Unesco tried to save a lot of temples such as Abu Simbel temple & Philae temple.
