A day trip to Luxor from Alexandria would be a long journey, as the two cities are located quite far apart in Egypt. Luxor is situated in the southern part of the country, while Alexandria is in the north. The distance between the two cities is approximately 670 kilometers (416 miles), and the travel time by road is around 9 to 10 hours one way.

 

Considering the long travel time, it would be challenging to visit Luxor and return to Alexandria in a single day. It is more practical to plan an overnight trip to Luxor to allow for ample time to explore the city's attractions. Luxor is known for its ancient Egyptian sites, including the Karnak Temple Complex, the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut, and the Luxor Temple.

 

To make the most of your visit, it's advisable to spend a minimum of two days in Luxor. This will give you sufficient time to explore the major historical sites, take a leisurely Nile River cruise, and immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of ancient Egypt. If you're determined to do a day trip, you could consider alternatives such as taking a domestic flight from Alexandria to Luxor. This would significantly reduce travel time, allowing you to spend the day exploring the city before returning to Alexandria in the evening. However, keep in mind that this option would still be quite rushed, and you would have limited time to see all the highlights of Luxor.
